Famed legal representative and liberal icon Dershowitz Alan , a professor emeritus at Harvard Law Univ, is blowing up Barack Obama as an “appalling president” for wounding Israel in the back, with his decision to allow the U.S. to abstain from, and essentially support, a U.N. settlement last week.
Alan Dershowitz is a well-known lawyer and liberal icon as well as professor emeritus at Harvard Law School.
He is speaking publically about President Obama pointing out that he was an appalling president for not standing by Israel. Particularly in his refusal to use veto power in the most recent United Nations settlement against Israel.
In a Fox TV News interview he told press reporters,
“What he (Obama) did was so nasty. He pulled a bait-and-switch. He said to the American public: This is all about the settlements deep in the West Bank. And yet he allowed his representative to the U.N. abstain, which is really [support] for, a resolution that says the Jews can’t pray at the Western Wall, Jewish … students can’t go to Hebrew University, Jewish and Arab patients can’t go to Hadassah hospital, Jews can’t live in the Jewish Quarter, where they’ve lived for thousands of years, and he’s going to say, ‘Whoops, I didn’t mean that.’ Well, read the resolution! You’re a lawyer!”
This past Friday Obama allowed his ambassador to the United Nations stay away from voting on a decision that specifically demands Israel immediately cease all settlement activities that are located in the Palestinian territory.
Which includes the extremely sought after East Jerusalem.
When the Israelis were attacked by their arab Muslim neighbors, the resolution also calls for boundaries to be restricted back to what they were in 1967.
Conservatives are arguing this resolution strips Israel of bargaining powe in potential negotiations. Which is unjustly unfair.
Dershowirz had said he had met with the head of state about the issue and that the presidenassured him he would have there allies back, turns out he lied. He said,
He claimed this makes Middle Eastern peace more difficult. Because Israel will not be willing to sacrifice anything else. They also won’t have anything else to bargain with.
Dershowitz said this causes Obama one of the most awful foreign policy presidents ever. Which he argued is terrible.
“I didn’t realize what [Obama] meant is that he would have their back to stab them.”
He is speaking publically about President Obama saying that he was an appalling president for not positioning by Israel. Specifically in his refusal to use veto power in the most recent United Nations settlement in opposition to Israel.
Conservativists are arguing this settlement strips Israel of bargaining powe in future negotiations.
