Nasser Laham, an associate of Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen and senior level journalist in the Palestinian Authority, stated that this year will be a year of Palestinian appeals to The Hague: “If we succeed with one, only one, then it will be another world.”
On Friday past week the Security Council of the United Nations included a new chapter to what Professor Julius Stone once dubbed “the assault on the law of nations.”
The well known expert on intercontinental law, who passed away in 1985, was referring to the distortion of international law concerning the condition of the territories conquered by Israel during the 1967 Six Day War.
This strike on international regulation has now been prolonged to the UN’s greatest body, which, in a new settlement, perpetrated the huge lie that the Jewish small towns and cities in Samaria and Judea and even the neighborhoods developed over the 1948 armistice line in Jerusalem are “illegal.”.
The Security Council took on the anti-settlement resolution against Israel with the true blessing of the Obama administration, which rejected to use its veto ideal and instead refrained from the choice.
Resolution 2334 states that “Israel’s establishment of negotiations in Palestinian region occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, had no legal validity, constituting a flagrant infraction under international law and a major barrier to the vision of two States living side-by-side in calmness and security, within internationally recognized borders.”.
The UN Security Council furthermore “reiterated its demand that Israel immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, consisting of East Jerusalem. It gave emphasis that it would not acknowledge any changes to the 4 June 1967 lines, featuring with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the two sides through negotiations.”.
The Israeli federal government reacted furiously to the settlement and vowed to launch an all-out fight against it.
Israel instantly received the support of President-elect Donald Trump who published an angry tweet right after the vote vowing “things will be different” as quickly as he takes office in January.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed his anger at outgoing President Barack Obama, whom he called as unfavorable to the Jewish State as previous President Jimmy Carter who is a prominent figure in the pro-Palestinian lobby.
In stark contrast to an explicit commitment dating back to 2011, “the Obama management took a disgraceful anti-Israel step at the UN. I want to tell you that the [UNSC] choice not only does not bring peace closer, but it makes it more distant. It undermines justice and truth,” Netanyahu said Saturday.
” Think about this absurdity,” the Israeli PM continued,” half a million people are being butchered in Syria, tens of thousands slaughtered in Sudan, the Middle East is in flames and the Obama administration and the Security Council choose to pick the only democracy in the Middle East– the State of Israel. What an embarassment,” Netanyahu fumed.
Pointing to the president-elect, Netanyahu predicted that the “old world bias against Israel” would come to an end.
” We are entering a new era and in the new era there will be a price for those trying to harm Israel,” the longest serving Israeli PM ever, said.
The Israeli federal government later disclosed that it has “ironclad information” concerning the Obama administration’s active involvement in drawing up the resolution, and as a steering force behind the passing of the measure.
David Keyes, one of Netanyahu’s representatives, told Fox News that the government had “rather ironclad relevant information from sources in both the Arab world and internationally that this was an intentional push by the United States and in fact they helped create the resolution in the first place.”.
There were people who initially claimed the settlement was meaningless and would not change the situation on the ground.
As Times reporter Melanie Philips pointed out on her blog, the settlement “makes a negotiated settlement between Israel and the Palestinians very much tougher since the Palestinians will now have no enticement to negotiate the extents of a future Palestine state.”.
After all, the settlement states “it would not recognize any changes to the 4 June 1967 lines, including with regard to Jerusalem.”.
According to the UNSC, Israel has to return to what former Israeli Overseas Minister Abba Eban called “the Auschwitz lines”.
The Palestinian Arabs have already indicated that they will use the settlement to increase their quarrelsome behavior and that they will now sue IDF officers and soldiers at the International Criminal Court of law in The Hague.
” 2017 will be a year of proceedings at The Hague,” Nasser Laham, and consultant to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said.
” We have lots of sheets with the names of IDF officers. Every pilot, every single officer and every soldier with his picture and his name is in our possession and we are waiting for them at The Hague. If we succeed with one, only one, then it will certainly be another world,” he warned.
Laham stated that the next Intifada will be combated in ties and suits.
Don’t use violence. They will certainly give us another chance,” Laham said on Palestinian tv while Fatah published a cartoon on its Facebookpost depicting a hand using a knife in the form of Israel and the word “Palestine” with the map of the Jewish State.
As an outcome of the resolution, the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions movement will also be strengthened in its efforts to get rid of the Jewish State and to replace it by an Arab one.
The settlement, in article 5, effectively encourages the nations of the world to boycott products made over the so-called Green Line, the 1948 armistice line and flips U.S. residential law that never ever branded the so-called settlements illegal.
The settlement hammers the closing nail in the coffin of the Oslo Accords that said the status of the Israeli “settlements” should be negotiated in a final-status contract with the Palestinian Authority.
These will be the results of Obama’s latest trap on Israel.
In plain contrast to an explicit commitment dating back to 2011, “the Obama administration took a shameful anti-Israel step at the UN. It undermines justice and truth,” Netanyahu said Saturday.
Every single pilot, every officer and every soldier with his picture and his name is in our ownership and we are waiting for them at The Hague. If we succeed with one, only one, then it will definitely be another world,” he alerted.
They will give us another opportunity,” Laham said on Palestinian television while Fatah published a cartoon on its Facebook page depicting a hand with a knife in the form of Israel and the phrase “Palestine” along the map of the Jewish State.
